The new PS5 model contains an important degradation

The newest model of PlayStation 5 that has begun to be sold to customers seems to contain a very important degradation. During the last month, reports that indicate Sony have already begun to slightly modify the internal parts of the next generation platform. And now, thanks to a new video that has come to inspect these changes in the PS5, it seems that the console is not as good as the model that was initially launched last year.

In a new video of Tech YouTuber Austin Evans (which you can find above), the internal parts of this new PS5 model were reviewed with great detail. Based on what was encountered with this new version, the console itself is now lighter than the previous one, but the reason for this change can be found in what was inside. When you open this PS5 and compare it with the previous version, the aspects of the heat sink of the new PS5 seem to be slightly different from the original iteration. In a movement that clearly intended to help compensate for the manufacturing costs of PS5, Sony eliminated a large part of the heat sink that was seen in the first review of the console, which caused this weight drop.

In turn, this change can also affect the performance of the console. The smallest heat sink in the new PS5 caused the console to warm up more than the original model in the tests that were performed. Although the difference was not important and the highest temperature of the new PS5 is not necessarily a concern, it does show that the first version of the platform that began to launch last year is definitely the best of the two.

So, what does this mean? Well, in all likelihood, this new PS5 model should become the default version that Sony will send to everyone. If you have not yet purchased the console for you, it will surely be the one that will begin to appear in all regions in the future. Even though this whole situation could be raising some red flags, hardware reviews like this are common when it comes to any piece of technology. And in that sense, Sony is expected to be able to make changes in this way in a short time. Even so, if you have a version of the ps5 launch day, consider lucky, as it seems that technically has the best version of the platform.
